20th of May Meetup Photos/Write Up

The May Meetup was a bit more spread around the ALT Gaming Lounge, with different groups doing different things. Joined by friends old and new alike, our group easily filled the tables provided to us by ALT (and most likely their coffers too!) with games of Secret Shipfic, Tales of Equestria, BUCK Legacy and even a Nintendo Switch! Not only that, but many of our group brought along laptops to play Pony games and watch pony episodes. We also had a few people using some of the ALT provided games and consoles to compete with each other on.

Compared to previous meet-ups at the ALT Gaming Lounge, the May 20th meet-up may not have been the most populated – with a peak turn out of 12 people – however, that is not to say it wasn’t enjoyable.

Overall, I think it is accurate to conclude that this meet-up was highly successful despite the comparably lower turnout compared to some of our previous meets. We’re now looking forward to our next meet-up, where we plan to host a Fighting is Magic gaming tournament at ALT. With any luck, this will be a lot of fun for all.

Fighting is Magic – Tribute Edition tournament

Following an email discussing the viability of holding a video game tournament for Fighting is Magic at the [ALT] Video Gaming Lounge, they have agreed that they would be open to hosting the event if we pay £30 for the rental of two computer stations for 2 – 3 hours. This is a whopping 58% discount. We plan to use one of the computer stations for the purpose of practise/exhibition matches and the second computer station for the ranked matches.

However, in order to organise the event, the [ALT] Video Gaming Lounge does need to know the date of the event. Therefore, we are putting forward our poll a little bit earlier than before, to allow people time to declare their preferred date, so we can get back to [ALT] with a date. We will maintain contact throughout to offer complete transparency to the staff there.

To cover the cost of the computer station rental, I would like to propose a £2 charge for anyone who wishes to have their name added to the roster for the tournament. This means that if 15 people enter the event, we have paid off the computers. However, any surplus money will probably either go to a prize for the winner (Food/Drink) or, for funding the next event.

Please vote on the poll below this post your preferred date and whether you would be willing to pay a small charge to enter the tournament, before the 29th of May at 1:15 am. Your feedback is valuable to us.

Trottinghamshire Bronies Meetup on May 20th

As usual the plan is to meetup at 12:00 pm and hang around the [ALT] Gaming Bar, catch up, and play games (including card games). Feel free to bring want to bring your games.

The [ALT] Gaming Bar bar serves delicious food and drinks and they have been accommodating enough to treat us most excellently during our meet-up events, so if you can, please do buy things at the bar.

Also the idea of a game tournament was suggested at our last meetup. However, has been pushed back slightly so that we can have more time to organise the event and liaise with the ALT gaming staff regarding feasibility.
