Trottinghamshire January Meetup (08/01/2022) @ The Playwright 38

The plan for the January meetup is to have it at the Playwright 38 pub on Shakespeare Street in Nottingham. To see the details behind why this date was picked see the blog post on the results for the Christmas and January Meetups voting.

We will be holding the meetup in the back room which has a projector, between 12 PM to 6 PM. It has adequate table space for people who enjoy playing card games, so people can play TSSSF (Twilight Sparkles’ Secret Shipfic Folder), Tails of Equestria (a Pen and Paper RPG), and MLP CCG at the meetup.

It is also close to the Victoria Shopping Centre so if anyone wants to do some shopping during the meet, you won’t have far to go. If playing tabletop games is not your thing, there will be plenty of people at the meetup with who you can just hang out and socialise with.

I think it goes without saying, but it’s probably a good idea to bring a mask to wear in the shops and for when moving about the pub, especially considering the new Omicron variant.

Trottinghamshire Christmas Meetup [18th of Dec 2021] @ Dunkin Donuts ➤ Christmas Market ➤ The Dice Cup.

The voting for the next Trottinghamshire Meetup is now closed, and we have a confirmed booking at The Dice Cup for the 18th of December. To see the details behind why this date was picked see the blog post on the results for the Christmas and January Meetups voting.

I think it goes without saying, but it’s probably a good idea to bring a mask to go in the shops whilst wearing it, especially considering the new Omicron variant.

Meetup agenda & Venues

The plan for the Christmas meetup is to start next to the Christmas Tree outside the Dunkin Donuts inside the Exchange Arcade at 12 Noon, and then at about 12:30 PM heading off to look around the Nottingham Christmas Market.

The market will be located along Long Row and Smithy Row offering a chance for some Christmas shopping. The market will be stalls selling gifts and crafts. There will also be food stalls at the market if people want to have a bite to eat before going to the Dice Cup. If the Food Stalls are not to your taste there are plenty of fast food outlets around the Old Market Square, to get other food from.

After spending time at the market, we then plan to meet back at the Christmas tree about 1:30 PM, before heading off at 1:45 PM to the Dice Cup,  hopefully arriving there by 2:15 PM.

Voting for Christmas 2021 and January 2022 Meetups Dates

It’s time to pick the dates for the Christmas and January Trottinghamshire Bronies meetups. This poll will close on the 23rd of November at midnight. Like the last time around there is also the optional question to pick dates that you don’t want to have the meetup on, to be used in case of a tie break between days.

Christmas Meetup

The plan for the Christmas meetup is to start at the Right Lion (the one closest to Burger King) that is at the front of the Nottingham City Council building in the Old Market Square at 12 Noon, and then at about 12:20 PM heading off to look around the Nottingham Christmas Market.

The market will be located along Long Row and Smithy Row offering a chance for some Christmas shopping. The market sells gifts and crafts, as well as there being speciality food stalls at the the market, if people want to have a bite to eat before going to the Dice Cup. If the Food Stalls are not to your taste there are plenty of fast food outlets around the Old Market Square, to get other food from.

After spending time at the market, we then plan to meet back at the Right Lion about 1:30 PM, before heading off at 1:45 PM to the Dice Cup.

The Dice Cup

The Dice Cup on Google Maps

The Dice Cup has adequate table space for the people who enjoy playing card games during these meets, such as TSSSF and MLP CCG. We may also be running a game of Tails of Equestria, a Pen and Paper RPG, at the meetup if we have the time to. It costs to £1.50 enter for the full day if you bring your own board games/card games.

If you feel like playing something different, there is also a selection other games which can be played at the dice cup. A list with all their games can be found on their, website under the Games Library section.

If playing tabletop games is not your thing, there will be plenty of people who you can just hang out and socialise with.

January Meetup

The plan for the January meetup is to start at the Costa Coffee in the entrance hall of Nottingham Train Station at 12:30 PM. Then at 12:45 PM we will head over to The Johnson Arms via the Toton Lane tram (Getting off at Gregory Street) hopefully getting to the pub for 1 PM.

The Johnson Arms

The Johnson Arms has adequate table space for the people who enjoy playing card games during these meets, such as TSSSF, MLP CCG, and Tails of Equestria.

If playing tabletop games is not your thing, there will be plenty of people who you can just hang out and socialise with. If the group wants to, and weather permitting, there’s also the option to have the meetup in the large beer garden out the back.

Trottinghamshire Bronies Meetup [6th Nov 2021] @ Nottingham Train Station/Johnson Arms

While date for the November Trottinghamshire Meetup has been chosen for a while, I can now confirm that we will be meeting up at The Johnson Arms on the 6th of November. To see the details behind why this date was picked see the blog post on October and November 2021 Voting Results.

I think it goes without saying, but we do not have any problems with people wearing masks if it makes them feel safer attending the meetup. Especially considering the last couple of years we have had.

Meetup agenda & Venues

EDIT: Sorry for the ping, but there is an important change announcement to the Trottinghamshire Bronies meetup tomorrow due to the tram disruption. We are now planning to meet at the Nottingham Train Station at 12:00 Noon, then board the SkyLink bus from the Greyfriars stop at around 12:30.

We should hopefully arrive at the Gregory Street stop (right nearby The Johnson Arms) at about 1 PM. Please note that this is a little earlier than originally communicated, due to the differing bus times.

Of course, if you’re arriving via car or alternate transport, we hope to see you at the pub around 1! If you have any queries or concerns about the change,  leave a message in the comments, on our Discord server, or on our Telegram group.

UK Pony Con (UKPC) 2021 After Meetup (10/10/2021)

Over the last couple of months, the Trottinghamshire Bronies attendees and I have been coming up with ideas for the UK Pony Con (UKPC) Pre/After Meetups.

The Johnson Arms has adequate table space for card games such as TSSSF and MLP CCG. If playing tabletop games is not your thing, there will be plenty of people with who you can just hang out, show off convention merch and socialise.

While not a requirement, it would be helpful for people to RSVP on this event page for the Pre Meet/After Meet, as The Johnson Arms has asked for rough numbers. The Event page for the Pre Meetup can be found here.

Via Tram

To get from the UKPC Venue to The Johnson Arms, catch the Toton Lane tram from Royal Centre tram stop, and get off at Gregory Street stop.

Virtual and IRL Voting Results (July and August 2021)

Edit 2: The event page for August IRL Meetup can be found here.

Edit: The event page for July Virtual Meetup can be found here.

The voting for the dates of the July Virtual Meetup and August In Real Life meetup is now closed, and the dates have now been chosen. These dates were picked due to them being the most popular days, the least disliked days, and the days that give people the most notice.

The July Virtual Trottinghamshire Meetup will be held on the 17th of July, and the August in Real Life meetup will be on the 29th of August, as long lockdown restrictions are no longer in place.

If Lockdown does not lift by July 19th, there will just be another Virtual Meetup instead. However, if we do have an In Real Life meetup it will be at The Johnson arms (Location on google maps). We will start at the Nottingham train station, and make our way over to The Johnson arms via the tram as we did pre-lockdown.

More details for both meetups will be posted at a later date in the events section of the Trottinghamshire Bronies website.

I will update this blog post when said details are added.

Voting Results (Raw Data)

Voting for the July and August 2021 Virtual/IRL Meetup Date

It’s time to pick the date for the July Virtual Trottinghamshire Meetup. This poll will close on the 5th of July at 7 pm.
Like the last time around there is also the optional question to pick dates that you don’t want to have the meetup on, to be used in case of a tie break between days.

However, because we are supposed to be out of Lockdown by July 19th, the poll also includes dates for an In Real Life meetup in August. Hopefully, this will make up for the limited selection of dates in July that was caused by other commitments.

If Lockdown does not lift by July 19th, there will just be another meetup Virtual Meetup instead. However, if we do have an In Real Life meetup it will be at The Jonanshon arms (Location on google maps).

July Virtual Meetup

The plan for the July meetup is to run a Virtual Meetup as an audio/video call in our Trottinghamshire Bronies Discord Server within the Trottingham🔈 channel, between 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm (-ish), and keep the overall schedule as light as possible.

This way people can decide what they want to do on the day. People can even use the three extra breakout channels (Canterlot🔈,Ponyville🔈,Cloudsdale🔈) to help coordinate playing games online, and do other stuff like watching MLP:FIM or other TV shows.

Poll

Last Meetup

Our April Meetup this month had about 5 people on the call. Most of the meetup was spent chatting about:

  • Computer hardware
  • What computer games the group have playing.
  • Random videos on YouTube.
  • The Trottinghamshire Bronies post-lockdown plans for the Meetups.
  • And finally just catching up with other members of the group.
