UK Pony Con 2019 After Meet @ The Johnson Arms (13th Of Oct)

Over the last couple of months, a few of the Trottinghamshire Bronies regulars and I have been coming up with ideas for the UK Pony Con (UKPC) Pre/After Meetups. After contacting multiple venues, I can finally confirm the details of the Pre Meetup and After Meetup. This year, because of venue availability, we are holding the Pre Meetup and After Meetup at different places.

To find more info about the the Pre Meet, the venue (The Dice Cup) and the quickest way to get there from the UKPC Venue, please check the UKPC After Meet Event Page

The After Meet

The Plan for the The After Meet is to meetup at the Royal Centre tram stop (it's only couple of minutes from the convention centre) at 5:45 Pm to catch the 5:54 PM Toton Lane tram. We will then get off at the Gregory Street tram stop and head over to the main venue, The Johnson Arms, which we have booked from 6:15 PM to 11:00 PM

There is a Toton Lane tram every 10 minutes so don't worry if you can't make it to the Royal Centre tram stop by 5:54 PM. The next tram will not be long after.

The Venue

Sundays are the quietest day for The Johnston Arms, so there will adequate table space for card games such as TSSSF and MLP CCG, even if people bring convention merch with them. If playing table top games is not your thing, there will be plenty of people who you can just hang out with and socialise.

Ordering Food

If you are interested in ordering food from the The Johnson Arms Menu, please fill in the form below. This is because the kitchens are normally closed on Sundays. However, The Johnson Arms does allow food bought from other places, as long as you are a paying customer.

The Pre Meet

For the Pre Meetup on Friday the 11th, we have been able to guarantee 5 tables for 25 people at the Dice Cup. It costs 1£ for entry, and I'm planing on bringing BUCK Legacy, MLP:FIM CCG and TSSSF for event attendees to play.

We have the tables booked for 7 pm, until 11 pm. This is so people can get food before hand if they want to, and also can drop their bags off at their hotels.

The Venue

The Dice Cup is a board game Cafe and Comic book shop next to the Victoria Bus Station, about 6 minutes away from the UKPC Venue.

They serve drinks and snacks, including paninis. They also have card sleeves and deck boxes, which maybe useful for anyone taking part in any MLP:FIM CCG tournament at UKPC.

Meetup Details

The voting for the next Trottinghamshire Bronies meetup date is now closed. The date for the next meetup is the 27th of April, however the plan for the meetup has now changed. We are now starting the meetup at the Costa Coffee in the entrance hall of Nottingham Train Station at 12:00 PM.

Then we will head over to The Johnston Arms at 12:30 via the Toton Lane tram (Getting off at Gregory Street) hopefully getting to the pub for 1 PM. An all day ticket for the tram costs £4.00 for a adult and £3.10 for a student.

The Johnston Arms has adequate table space for the people who enjoy playing card games during these meets, such as TSSSF and MLP CCG. If Pen and Paper RPGs are more of your thing, we will most likely be running a game of Tails of Equestria at the meetup if we have the time to. If playing table top games is not your thing there is a large bear garden out the back.

The Reason for April's change of venue and meetup starting point.

To cut a long story short, after the feedback from the last meetup's attendees about the problems of the venue (Castle Pub), I tried and book the Lloyds No.1 Bar and the Cafe Sobar as they was included in the group's favourites for a new regular meetup place.

However while trying to book them I found out that both Lloyds No.1 Bar and the Cafe Sobar no longer do group bookings for weekends, because they can never know how busy there are going to be on a Satday and Sunday.

So means there is a total of three places in the centre of Nottingham that no longer allow weekend bookings. Because of this I started doing research for venues further afield.

After talking to other meetup members The Johnston Arms has come up in conversations, but I haven't considered it before because in wasn't in the city centre, however that means that it's going to be less busy.
